Quail Court is on one of the last undeveloped sites in the prestigious Montecito Heights neighborhood. Planning for this project involved application for a Hillside Development Permit which was granted early November of 2019.
Quail Ct explores what it feels like to move into and away from the land. Through cantilevers and sunken courtyards, overhangs and roof decks, bridges and terraces, unique spaces create a variety of experiences that highlight the richness of the environment and connect the interior architecture to the exterior.
Indoor-outdoor living is a central focus of this project, and by using radiant floors and deep overhangs, keeping the windows and doors open when it’s starting to get cool and rainy out is no problem. Operable glass walls throughout the project can be folded out of the way to create a house that extends into the world around it.
