LA FIRES

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

We are greatly saddened by the loss of life and property in LA!

The Tubbs Fire of October of 2017 was a pivotal moment for TBE Architecture and all our community. The Tubbs Fire started in Napa County,
north of Calistoga on October 8, 2017. It burned through Sonoma and Napa counties, destroying over 5,600 structures and killing 22 people. The Tubbs Fire was one of several wildfires that occurred in Northern California’s wine country in October 2017.

At the time, the Tubbs Fire was the most destructive wildfire in California history, inflicting its greatest losses in the city of Santa Rosa. Its destructiveness was surpassed only a year later by the Camp Fire of 2018.

Prior to the Tubbs fire I worked alone on commercial projects in a spare room of my home. After the Tubbs Fire I made a commitment to help my community rebuild. Since 2017 TBE has been involved in dozens of residential fire rebuilds and has learned many lessons on how to plan and design homes for the wildland-urban interface (WUI).

The lessons learned from these events, improvements in our building code, and implementing site design strategies to provide a defensible space, can greatly increase the chances of your home surviving.

TBE is ready to help with the design of homes lost to wildfire throughout the state. Feel free to call or email. We are happy to share our experience with you and get you on the path to recovery as soon as possible.
